Nicolas Molé

Nicolas Molé is a Franco-Kanak artist. Born and educated in France, Molé relocated to New Caledonia in 2010 to connect with his parternal clan and his Kanak heritage . His  practice engages with this heritage and its contemporary articulation. Moving fluently between drawing, animation and video, Molé constructs animated multimedia installations that respond to the natural and cultural environment of New Caledonia. He has exhibited at the Tjibaou Cultural Center, New Caledonia; 8th Asia Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art, Queensland Art Gallery | Gallery of Modern Art, Brisbane, 2015; and the Kaohsiung Museum of Fine Arts, Taiwan, among others.

Molé is teaching motion design and animation at the University of New Caledonia. He is actually the Syndic’art’s president, an association committed to the professionalization of artists and their legal rights.
